SACRAMENTO LUCID FASHION SHOW 2008 @ MARRS BUILDING
Lucid introduces an evening of Fashion and Art
Independent fashion and innovative art largely characterize Sacramento as a creative, cutting-edge community. By showcasing the region’s most recognized artists, designers and boutiques Lucid fuses fashion and art into an unparalleled event exuding sophistication and embodying the cities contemporary, independent spirit. In conjunction with mid-town’s premiere restaurant and retail center, the MARRS building this event will epitomize Sacramento’s persona as a creative capital city with a style as unique populace.
Central to the evening will be a fashion show spotlighting new summer looks from local boutiques and designers. Featured will be two of the areas top shopping destinations, Artifacts at 907 K St. and DV8 located within the MARRS building. Each boutique features an array of men’s and women’s contemporary apparel, accessories and footwear. The fashion throughout the event will alternate between boutiques showcasing a mainstream style and avant-garde designers exclusive to city. Through this integration the event will bridge the gap between high fashion and local design. Thus Lucid is excited to feature the innovative styles of Jesus Medrano, Lindsay Rickman of Atelier, Melissa Hemmens of Threadedheart and Amy Hemmens of Naikfur.
Complimentary to dynamic fashion Lucid will showcase an array of past and present works by Jeff Felker, a graduate of Sacramento State University and instructor at American River College. The artist’s work focuses heavily on ethereal, complex renderings of the contemporary female form. These images will line the walls framing the fashion show and emphasizing the event as to be viewed through an artistic guise.
Music and refreshments will further set the tone for Lucid’s casual yet urbane ambiance. Well renowned local deejays, Sam I Jam and Adam J will mix lively, energetic tracks throughout the evening. Both deejays will alternate between indoor and outdoor sets as too fully utilize the venue and incorporate the MARRS building in its entirety. Furthermore this extension into the outdoor space will serve a duel function, opening up the space as the summer nights grow warmer. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be coordinated through MARRS building restaurants Azul and Lounge on 20.
Thus, through a synthesis of innovative fashion, contemporary art and energetic music Lucid showcases Sacramento’s most inspirational and creative individuals to proudly display the best the Capitol City has to offer. With our talented participants, Anne Zavala and I, Nicoletta Rousseva look forward to a successful event and the establishment Sacramento’s premiere exhibition of innovative fashion and cutting edge art.
